☆第五回めの奨学金を支給☆

2013年8月26日に他界した弊社の創業者の一人であったグビ（Salum Ngubi）さんの遺児の学費援助のための『グビさん遺児育英基金』には多くの方々のご協力をいただいています。 現段階（2015年8月31日）で、71人の方がたから1,378,000円＋US$2,012＋€535＋Tsh1,020,000のご芳志をいただきました。ありがとうございました。

本基金としては第五回目の奨学金支給を、長男モハメッドへ8月27日に行いました。

現在19歳のモハメッドはタボラにある寄宿制のKAZIMA高校で、物理、化学、生物、数学を中心に勉強する理科系（PCB）の勉強をしていましたが、学習環境が 合わなかったため（下記の本人のレポートを参照ください）、ダルエスサラーム郊外にある私立のムベジ高校に転校し、1年生（Form5）からやり直すことになりました。 1年間高校生活が延びてしまいますが、本人のたっての希望ですので、ご支援いただいた方々には、ご承認いただけますようお願いいたします。 また、勉強に集中したいということで、寮生活をすることになりました。

今回の支給は以下のものです。 　①授業料その他雑費（来年1月に残りの学費Tsh350,000を支給）：Tsh647,000 　②寮費（3回に分けたうちの1回分）Tsh500,000 　③教材などTsh87,500 　＊合計Tsh1,234,500

☆モハメッドからのKAZIMA高校2学期と転校するにあたっての報告です（英文の下に日本語訳があります）。

Greetings! I hope you are doing well and fine. Here is my school report: On 6 Jan 2015, Kazima secondary school was opened for second semester. I arrived at school on the same day and attended Monday morning school parade. Announcements were made by the school administration concerning the whole semester’s routine.

Class sessions started on 17 Jan 2015 at 8: 00am immediately after the morning parade. I went through 4 sessions before having break at 10:10am, then followed by 6 sessions after break from 10:30am to 2:30pm. It was a little bit tough start of the year and the semester. Subjects were taught as planned and the sessions went well for the first few weeks.

I used the evening time on Monday and Tuesday with my classmates. We conducted a group discussion which was held in class. Different kind of questions in every subject were represented and everyone had to contribute on the topics discussed. In this activity, I liked most when we were dealing with Biology since I had a lot to contribute than other subjects. Through this, I learned new things and developed new ideas. I also got solutions of problems on the subjects.

Wednesday evening was the day for subject club. Students get chance to know a lot of things about their favorite subjects. Every subject that was taught in school had its own subject club and a student have to choose one of the clubs. Since Physics is my favorite subject, I preferred to join 'Physics club'. In this club I learned about the history of physics, its applications and its contributions to the advancement of technology. The club leaders appointed me to have a talk on the 'history of physics' and its development. I was very excited to have the opportunity which surely made me confident and more knowledgeable about physical world through researches I made. It also expanded my imagination and thinking capacity when addressing fellow students.

Thursday was one of my favorite days at which 'social club' was the evening activity. During social club, students shared different ideas and skills. There were only four social clubs at school, which are YUNA, FEMA, CHAVITA and PCCB. Every club had its own activities different from the other. Every student had to join one of the social club. On this, I prefered to join CHAVITA.

CHAVITA is a short form of 'Chama cha Viziwi Tanzania' which is mainly concerned with people who have got no ability of either hearing or speaking and others both. But It also gave chance to those who doesn't have the disabilities to learn their sign language. The sign language was taught according to Tanzanian system of sign language. Through this club I had a chance to learn the official sign language and till now I am able to communicate with the disabled students. Though at first it was a bit difficult, more practices helped to reach the achievements. I also had some interactions and talk with the disabled ones. It was very fun and interesting activity.

After a whole tough week of class sessions, Friday evening was for sports and games. This event was conducted by the school sports teacher who gave instructions on different physical exercises and warm up, before starting game training. Games like football, basketball, volleyball and netball were practiced in the day. I liked playing football and basketball, though I involved myself in long run. Sometimes we had sports competitions and the winners were awarded. I did not manage to get any award in the competition but I scored 2 goals for my class-team and I'm happy for it. It was a really good day for refreshment.

Saturday was the day for cleanliness and self-studies. The lack of library at school led into some difficulties in self-study activity. I tried my level best to make use of the available resources and benefit from them. I had a hard time accomplishing the practical activities from some topics.

It was a very good start of the semester, though a lot of times the activities were interacted by unexpected conditions such as lack of water which needed students to stop the important activities and go for emergencies. This affected the whole school timetable a lot, which also led to poor teaching plans and low efficiency in learning. My academic performance started dropping day by day with no hope of recovering from the condition. Although I learned a lot from the, I decided to shift to another school and start afresh. I realized that this was the only good way of getting back into my feet. It’s a very hard decision to make, but I have to do this for the sake of good achievements. I believe and I'm sure I will get back into the right track through this.

On 18 August 2015, I managed to get another school which is MBEZI HIGH SCHOOL. It is a private school (not owned by government) and has got all the resources needed; library, teachers, classrooms and dormitory. It also has a good and well-arranged timetable for class-sessions and school daily routine. I liked the school compound and its administration system too. I have already been registered as a student of the school and I started attending school sessions since 19 August 2015. I'm looking forward for improvements and better results than my previous performance. I feel sorry so any disappointments that have arisen through this and I assure you that they will never happen again. This is only for the good. I would like to give my regards and appreciations to you all.

こんにちは！ 　みなさん、お元気のことと思います。これは僕の学校生活のレポートです。 　2015年1月6日に僕の通うカジマ高校の2学期が始まりました。その日、僕は学校に着いて、月曜の朝礼に出ました。そこで先生たちから、今学期の時間割等について発表がありました。

　授業は1月17日の朝礼後8時から始まりました。まず10：10までに4時限、授業をします。その後、10：30まで20分間の休憩が終わると、10：30～14：30までで6時限、授業があります。これは学期の始まりにしては少ししんどかったです。授業はシラバス通りに教えられ、最初の2、3週間は順調に授業が行われました。

　月曜日と火曜日の放課後は、クラスメイトと過ごしました。僕たちは教室でグループ・ディスカッションをしました。全科目に関して、さまざまな質問、意見がなされ、全員がその議論に参加しなければいけません。このディスカッションの中で、僕は生物の議論をするときが最も好きでした。なぜかというと、他の教科よりも議論で活躍できるからです。そして、この議論を通して、僕は新しいことを学び、新しいアイデアを思いつくことができました。また、各教科の問題の解答もわかりました。

　水曜日の放課後は、「科目クラブ」の日です。ここで、生徒は自分の好きな教科についてより多くのことを学ぶ機会が与えられます。僕の学校では、全ての教科に対してこの科目クラブが設けられ、生徒はその中からどれかひとつ選びます。僕は物理が好きなので、「物理のクラブ」に所属しています。このクラブで僕は、物理学の歴史と物理学がどう応用され、科学技術の発展にどう貢献しているのかを学びます。僕はこのクラブでリーダーに指名されました。そして、“物理学の歴史とその発展”について発表することになりました。僕は本当に興奮しました。なぜなら、この機会に僕が調べることで、物理学の世界についての知識と自信を持てるようになると確信したからです。また、仲間たちに発表することで、想像力や考える力も養うことができました。

　木曜日は好きな日のひとつで、放課後に「社会活動クラブ」があります。このクラブを通して、生徒たちはさまざまな意見や技能をシェアします。僕の学校には、YUNA、FEMA、CHAVITAそしてPCCBの4つのクラブがあり、それぞれのクラブで、他のクラブとは違った活動がなされます。そして生徒は皆、そのどれかひとつに参加しなければいけません。僕はCHAVITAに参加することにしました。

　CHAVITAは”Chama cha Viziwi Tanzania”（タンザニアろう者団体）の略で、耳の聞こえない人や話すことができない人、またそのどちらもできない人たちに関する団体です。しかし、その団体ではそういった障害を持たない人たちが手話言語を学ぶ機会もあります。手話言語はタンザニア手話で教えられます。このクラブを通して、僕は公式のタンザニア手話を学ぶ機会が持て、今でも障害を持った生徒たちとコミュニケーションをとることができています。初めのうちは、少し難しかった手話ですが、練習に励んだので上達していきました。また、障害のある人たちと交流し、話をしました。これは非常に楽しく、興味深い活動でした。

　一週間の大変な授業が終わって、金曜日の放課後はスポーツや試合の日です。この活動は体育の先生たちが中心となり、それぞれの先生が試合前に体操やウォーミングアップの方法を教えてくれます。サッカーやバスケットボール、バレーボール、ネットボールの競技は、その日の種目でした。たくさん走りますが、僕はサッカーやバスケットボールをするのが好きです。ときどき、大会が行われ、勝ったチームや勝者は表彰されます。僕はまだ大会で表彰されたことはありませんが、サッカーの試合で、クラスチームで出たときに２ゴール決め、とても嬉しかったです。この日はよいリフレッシュの日となりました。

　土曜日は、清掃と自習の日です。図書室に本が少なかったので、自習するのが難しい状況でした。僕は、使える資料や教材を最大限に活用しました。いくつかのテーマから実用的な活動につなげるのは非常に難しいことでした。

　とてもいい2学期のスタートでしたが、水不足や、重要な活動が中止になるほどの予想外の出来事に、何度も学習活動が影響を受けてしまいました。これが授業進行にもひどく影響し、不十分な授業計画と学習の低効率につながりました。僕の学習成績も日に日に落ち始め、良くなる希望もなくなっていきました。僕はこの学校でたくさんのことを学びましたが、違う学校へ転校し、新たに一から始めることにしました。これこそがより良い学習環境に戻れる唯一の道だと思いました。非常に厳しい決断でしたが、素晴らしい学業成績を得るためにはこうするしかなかったのです。この決断で、僕は正しい道を歩んでいけると信じています。

　2015年8月18日、僕は新たな学校である、ムベジ高校に転入が決まりました。この学校は、公立ではなく私立の学校で、図書室、先生、教室、寮とすべての施設が揃っています。そして、授業や学校の日課が、しっかりと適切に組まれています。学校の宿舎や運営も気に入りました。そして、生徒登録が完了し、8月19日から登校し始めました。僕はこれから成績がもっと伸びるのを楽しみにしています。今回の転校でいろいろな人をがっかりさせてしまったことを申し訳なく思いますし、このようなことは二度と起こらないようにします。これが良い方向につながることを約束します。みなさんに、どうぞよろしくお伝えください。

長女のアダといい、このモハメッドといい、グビさんに似て温和で優しい、真面目な子どもたちです。グビさんの子どもたちの教育への遺志をなんとか引き継いでいきたいと思いますので、引き続き見守っていただきたいと思います。

今回の支給で、基金の残高は以下のようになっています。 　787,000円＋US$4,397＋Tsh907,200　 　300,000円をUS$119．53のレートで両替＝US$2,509。今回はUS$500をUS$1＝Tsh2110のレートで両替。

次回の支給はモハメッドの4回目（1年生の寮費の3分割の2回目）で、9月末の予定です。
